He has surgical interests across the spectrum of ENT with specialist interests in head and neck cancer. Francis has received prestigious awards from The Royal College of Surgeons (Lionel Colledge Fellowship) and also The British Association of Head and Neck Surgeons (BAHNO Traveling Fellowship). He has also published and presented widely on all aspects of ENT surgery and has contributed chapters to major ENT and general medical textbooks.
His areas of expertise and interest include parotid surgery, laryngeal surgery, thyroid surgery, neck lumps, voice disorders and salivary gland surgery. He has a keen interest in teaching and training, currently educating undergraduates and postgraduates in the hospital and university. He especially enjoys jointly running a MCh (Otorhinolaryngology) with colleagues at Christ Church Canterbury University with colleagues. He also has a private practice at Shirley Oaks Hospital and Harley Street.
